I remember when I just got into crypto back in 2019 but later in 2020 I ended up selling it because I was dumb and I didn't understand it. I studied and learned and now I know how it works. I am 21 years old. I am a student in college here in the USA. At this point in my life, I feel like many of my peers do. I am lost. I find myself looking for answers about my future. I can’t seem to look ahead of my current situation and find drive and passion for creating a life and establishing myself as a great person or even someone capable of achieving great things. Even when making strides in my personal life, it often feels for nothing. As someone born in the 2000s, I can’t imagine a life without the internet. I had my first smart device at 8 years old. I have had the internet in my pocket my whole life. How are we expected to grow and learn in the same way? How are we expected find drive and “buck up” and work hard. Please believe me, I’ve worked multiple jobs at a time, during Covid 70 hr a week (under the table) while in high school. I have always been a hard worker, but as I grow older, I can’t help but see things from a different point of view. Nothing feels right. I almost don’t know how to describe it. I can’t fight the urge to delete my social medias or find some other way to “reset” my brain. The harsh reality is, this is this world we now live in. Yes, things are different. This young generation is going to struggle hard with things that other generations haven’t had to struggle with (nothing new here). I just want as a person, to feel as if other people want to be human. We want to love, we want to grow, we want to learn and explore. The internet in our pockets, has only channeled that energy into negative outlets.

Communism is not a great comparison. Monarchy is better, in that humans have been ruled by military monarchies for thousands of years. It's how humans naturally organize their societies. Socialism is just the most recent manifestation of dictatorship. Communism and fascism are the two sides of the socialist coin, but they have a poor understanding of how money works. A monarchy knows exactly how to make money work. That's why unpaid overtime is an actual form of slavery.

I think we are experiencing the loss of the 2nd and third place. I'm referring to the idea that as a society we typically lived in 3 places, our home, our job, and third places including churches, malls, cafes, bars, clubs, libraries, gyms, bookstores, hackerspaces, stoops, parks, and theaters, among others. the 2020 lockdowns did away with the second place and many third places for many. The internet has also helped do away with the third place. We are isolated and trapped by technology.

A reasonable question but based on being young. The new generations may live till 100 or 125, and you have access to all the art and music and education the internet can offer. Here is a great question for you. How much money would it cost to have you never use the internet? A survey (Rumour) showed it was near 5.0 million dollars. So most people in USA have access to a 5 million dollar asset. As for housing there are 144 million houses in the USA. Although Taylor swift (or people of her Ilk) may own most of them LOL I am not sure this is really an issue. Baby boomers will pass on and housing will get better. Technology is said to be doubling (Exponential growth). So the new inventions will be mind blowing, Flying cars anyone? We could go on. There are terrible political movements (Marxist Progressives) ahead but it is reasonable to think people will snap out of it and realize capitalism has created a fantastic world for billions of people. Man spends more screen time than seeing the face of his wife and children. Child can't eat without watching UA-cam. AI interacting like human being. I am just tired of it. I've read The Fourth Turning. Loved it. It's a story. Nice story. Compelling story. But I can't believe in or buy any stories anymore. That's just it. They're stories. Reality, THIS, whatever it is, is NOT a story. But the self, the "me," the "I" needs stories and meaning. It's condemned to search for and create "meaning" and "truth," that are just more made-up human concepts. I can't believe in anything any more. Though "I" wany to. Just not buying any stories anymore, no matter how "scientific," or "backed up by research" they may be. It's all unknowable. And even THAT is just another story. Words, concepts, stories, all just creations of the human mind. None of them are real. None of our concepts and stories exist outside of themselves. THIS is unknowable. THAT is what we are most deeply afraid of, the annhilation of all knowing, the annhilation of this "precious" little thing we call our "self." The "I" does not exist. The "I" is the first delusion that breeds all other delusions and the need to understand what THIS is. But THIS has no need of anyone or anything, much less a need to "make sense" and "understand" what the fuck is going on. There's nothing going. No meaning, or purpose, or person, or creator behind any apparent person or thing. NOTHING is happening or will ever happen. And that is just another story, false like all the rest. Words can do nothing but create something that does not exist.

I was born in 1983, graduated High School in 2001. I absolutely agree that something feels off these days, and it has everything to do with the people. It has become increasingly difficult to have intelligent conversations, and the world feels more lonely. I sense this rise of self-centeredness, arrogance, and ignorance around me. Any time I go online, I am confronted with pseudo-scientific bullshit that is obviously false ... yet hordes of people seem to lap it up and be completely unaware .... its really depressing how uneducated our society has become. Illiteracy rates are way up, and as people become more uneducated, they are more easily manipulated. I am thankful that my parents pushed hard for me to get the education I did, and stressed that I maintain a humble and teachable attitude. I hope those attitudes become more valued going forward, but I am not holding my breath ...

Being born in 1979, im of the generation that knew life before internet, and the time before every single person had a smart phone in their pocket. Im not sure the correalation but i feel that people as a whole have declined, in terms of moral fiber since smartphones and thus the internet is instantly available to anyone ages 5-100.

This happens in cycles yes but the difference is everything is interrelated in the world as never before and there's a breaking point. No one is talking about the spiritual part, they talk about everything except that. But without a relationship with God we are nothing. We are in a fallen world. You can't really love others if you don't know and love God. We're supposed to love God and love each other. Think more highly of others than ourselves. Instead people these days are selfish and reactionary. Knowledge is fine but we are not masters of anything, we should stay in our lane and do what we are supposed to. Nothing wrong with the mind but minus morals it means nothing.
